Old school living


And I mean:reeeaaally old school ;) There is this small, rural, residential area called Swanston (it's located 5 miles from Edinburgh City Centre, Scotland) with beautiful, rustic, tchatched cottages.
If not for the cars in the parking lot, you would think it's still 1700s (that's when these enchanted, little houses were built). After the World War II they were largely abandoned, but in 1964 City Council has decided to restore them.They are slightly bigger now, but orginal walls were preserved.


 

They are all private properties now.

    Those cottages are so neat! So awesome that they still exist. Love your photos but you could probably make them bigger so we can see how awesome they are more easily! haha.

    What a gorgeous place! The cottages are beautiful, and I always love the pictures of the cows and chickens. I grew up on a farm, and my parents still have Charolais cattle. Our neighbors, in town, have 3 hens that like to come over and visit in our back yard, too!

    Oh how I love anything to do with Scotland!!!!

    My mom's parents were from Edinburgh and dad was born in Glasgow and that all my relatives from before my parent were born in Scotland for hundreds of years. I love the stories, the countryside, but, especially the Scottish accent. I miss it sooooooo much.......
